Embarking on a new journey

The time has come for me to go from observer to contributor in the blogging community! For the past year I have enjoyed reading many of your blogs (mostly weight loss / healthy living blogs). Soon I'll make a Blogroll of some of my favourites but until then, although you don't know who you are, I'd just like to thank you for all the advice, encouragement, and entertainment you unknowingly gave me! I was pretty much a lurker, rarely commenting because I felt I needed my own blog before I could become a real member of the community. Well here it is! I don't know exactly what it'll look like yet (so please be patient if there are growing pains at the beginning - this is my first blog!) but I am excited to begin this chapter of my life.

One of the reasons I feel this is a good time to start a blog is that I anticipate this next year of my life to be one of major change. The end of 2011 marks the end of an era for me. For the last 22 years I have been in school (I went directly from High School to Undergrad to Grad School) and in November I successfully completed my PhD. I do have a full-time job in my field for the time being but this next year will certainly have changes in store for my husband and I.

I feel like there's so much of my life to share and I guess it will all come out in time with each blog post. Here are a few tidbits to begin:
- I am 28 years old
- I have been married for 3 years
- I have a PhD in Experimental Medicine
- I lost 70 lbs over the past few years and have been at my goal weight for 1 year
- I am a Weight Watchers Lifetime Member
- I am interested in photography, healthy living, fitness, and travel - all of which will be part of this blog!

I am primarily writing this blog for me - to document the next stage of my life and use it as an outlet for self-reflection and to enrich my life. However, if you would like to join me on this new life journey I would love to have you along for the ride and will endeavour to give you The Bird's-Eye View!
